Bathroom Refits Guildford

Turn a dated bathroom into a calmer, smarter version of itself — reworked layouts, honest material choices and craftsmanship that still holds up a decade on. Bathroom refits, refurbishment and renovation across Guildford and the surrounding Surrey villages.

Refresh, rework, renew

A calmer, smarter version of the room you already have.

Plenty of bathrooms in Guildford homes were built for a different way of living — cramped layouts, awkward storage, tired fittings. A well-planned refit reshapes the room around how it's actually used today: a proper walk-in shower where the bath never gets touched, twin basins for the morning rush, tiling that finally calms the room down instead of cluttering it.

  • Over a decade refitting bathrooms in Guildford and Surrey
  • Layout redesign for better flow and more daylight
  • Space-saving joinery, vanity units and clever storage
  • Modern sanitaryware paired with materials that won't date
  • Full plumbing, electrical and ventilation upgrades
  • Fixed timeline and price — no drift, no surprises

Refit, renovation or refurbishment? What the terms actually mean

People use "refit", "renovation" and "refurbishment" fairly interchangeably, but in practice a bathroom refit usually describes one of two quite different jobs, and it's worth knowing which one you need before getting quotes.

A refresh-style refit keeps the existing layout. The suite, tiling and flooring are replaced like for like, pipework stays roughly where it is, and the room gets a new lease of life in around two weeks. It's the most cost-effective route when the layout already suits you and it's just the finishes that have aged.

A full refit or refurbishment strips the room back and reworks it — fixtures move, waste and supply pipework is re-run, walls are prepared or re-boarded, wet areas are tanked, electrics and ventilation are upgraded and everything is retiled. It takes longer, typically three to four weeks, but it's the only way to properly fix a layout that never worked. Taken that far, it's effectively a complete bathroom installation, and we'll quote it as one.

Rethinking the layout? Bring in bathroom design first

The refits that make the biggest difference are usually the ones that change the layout — and layout changes deserve proper planning. Where a room needs re-planning rather than a simple refresh, our bathroom design service looks at the soil pipe, plumbing, structure, doors and windows and puts forward realistic options before anything is committed to.

For a lot of homes around Guildford and Merrow that means challenging the original layout. A rarely used bath might give way to a generous walk-in shower with a wall-hung WC beside it. A single basin might become a twin vanity to end the morning bottleneck. Storage crammed onto a shelf becomes joinery built beneath the worktop.

Luxury bathroom refits in Guildford

Larger houses around Godalming, Shalford and Onslow Village often have bathrooms that were expensive when installed but now feel dated. Luxury bathroom refits bring those rooms up to a modern standard without losing their scale: a freestanding bath as the centrepiece, a walk-in shower with rainfall and handset, double vanities with proper storage, large-format porcelain or natural stone, feature lighting and underfloor heating.

A refit is also the chance to specify materials that will still look right in ten years — large-format porcelain for durability and calm, natural stone where it earns its keep, engineered stone worktops that shrug off water and heat, and solid brassware in finishes such as brushed brass, matt black and brushed nickel that age gracefully.

What gets upgraded behind the surfaces

Behind the tiles a refit is the chance to upgrade what you'll never see: fresh first-fix pipework, waste pipes with a correct fall, a quiet ducted extractor fan, underfloor heating beneath stone and porcelain floors, and better hot-water performance where the layout allows. Tiling is where a refit shows most visibly, and our approach is set out on the bathroom tiling page.

We carry out bathroom refits and refurbishment across Guildford, Merrow, Burpham, Stoughton, Bellfields, Bramley and Wonersh.

The process

From first call to final walk-through.

  1. 01

    Consultation

We come out to your home in Guildford or one of the nearby villages, see how the room gets used day to day, take proper measurements and talk honestly about what's not working.

  2. 02

    Design

You get a workable layout with sanitaryware, tile and storage suggestions and, where useful, a 3D visual so you know what the finished room will look like before a tile is ordered.

  3. 03

    Quotation

An itemised written quote setting out labour, materials, timescales and preparation work — clear and fixed before anything starts.

  4. 04

    Installation

Your team fits the bathroom with dust sheets down, a clean-down at the end of every day and regular updates — typically two to three weeks on site.

  5. 05

    Final inspection

A thorough walk-through, snagging, aftercare advice and a written workmanship guarantee — and we're still contactable afterwards if you need us.

Our upstairs bathroom was an odd shape and we had no idea how to make it work. The designer came back with a layout we'd never have pictured ourselves, then the same team carried out the installation. Having one company handle both stages meant nothing got lost in translation, and the finished room matches the drawings exactly.

Nothing in our bathroom had been touched since we bought the house. The team moved the shower, fitted a double vanity and the room now feels twice the size it was. Tidy, punctual and the final invoice matched the quote exactly, which made a nice change.

We were wary of putting a wet room upstairs, but the tanking and drainage were explained properly before any work began. It's completely watertight, the tiling is spot on and the finished floor drains beautifully. Couldn't fault the attention to detail.

New ensuite off our loft bedroom. It's a small footprint, but the layout makes it feel far more generous than it should. Work finished a day ahead of schedule with just two minor snags, both sorted within the week.

A full master bathroom with a freestanding bath, walk-in shower and stone finishes throughout. The quality of the finishing is superb — mitred corners, dead-level floors, every silicone line dead straight. They were also honest about where to spend the budget and where it wasn't worth it, which we really valued.

A cramped bathroom that never really worked for our family. It's been redesigned around wall-hung fittings, a walk-in shower and a big mirror, and it feels like an entirely different room now. Over a decade doing this clearly shows — nothing seemed to faze them.
