Wet Room Installation Guildford

Level-access, fully tanked wet rooms that make a small ensuite feel much larger and a family bathroom feel closer to a private spa — waterproofed the right way, from bonded membrane through to finished tile. Wet room installers covering Guildford, Merrow and the surrounding area.

The most flexible bathroom you can build

Level-access, fully waterproofed, quietly luxurious.

A properly built wet room tends to be the calmest room in the house — one flowing space with a rainfall shower, a linear drain and no threshold to step over. Done well it makes a small ensuite feel much bigger and turns a family bathroom into something close to a hotel spa. Done badly, it leaks. As wet room installers in Guildford with more than ten years' experience, we build them the right way round: bonded tanking membrane first, finished tile last.

  • Full bonded waterproof tanking to walls and floor
  • Correct floor gradients falling to a linear or point drain
  • Level-access design — no threshold to step over
  • Suits small ensuites, cloakrooms and full family bathrooms
  • Accessible by design, without looking clinical
  • Slip-resistant tiling, glass screens and durable brassware

05

06

Drainage & ventilation

Correctly sized linear or point drains, falls built into the substrate, and ducted extraction sized to the room.

How a wet room is actually built

The tiling is what you see; the waterproofing is what decides whether it lasts. We start by preparing the substrate and forming the fall — a gradient built into the floor build-up itself, never faked with extra adhesive under the tiles — running to either a linear channel drain along one wall or a centred point drain sized to the shower's flow rate.

Walls and floor are then fully tanked with a bonded membrane system, with reinforcing tape at every internal corner, upstands carried well above splash height and collars sealed around each pipe penetration. Only once that envelope is complete does tiling start. Slip resistance is specified properly for the floor, glass screens are fixed into solid backing, and extraction is sized so the room genuinely clears.

Planning a new wet room in Guildford

A wet room is one project where planning really matters: the drain position, the direction of the fall, where the screen keeps splashes off the door, whether the joists allow the drain body to sit where you'd like. If you're planning a wet room from scratch, our bathroom design service works all of that out before anything is built, and a wet room can form part of a complete bathroom installation.

Underfloor heating pairs particularly well with a wet room — it dries the floor faster between uses and takes the chill off tiled stone. Tiling detail matters a great deal in a room this wet, and our approach is set out further on the bathroom tiling page. Where the brief is about future-proofing rather than looks, our accessible bathrooms service covers the same construction with comfort-height fixtures and discreet supports built in.

We install wet rooms across Guildford, Merrow, Burpham, Stoughton, Onslow Village, Shalford and Chilworth.

The process

From first call to final walk-through.

  1. 01

    Consultation

We come out to your home in Guildford or one of the nearby villages, see how the room gets used day to day, take proper measurements and talk honestly about what's not working.

  2. 02

    Design

You get a workable layout with sanitaryware, tile and storage suggestions and, where useful, a 3D visual so you know what the finished room will look like before a tile is ordered.

  3. 03

    Quotation

An itemised written quote setting out labour, materials, timescales and preparation work — clear and fixed before anything starts.

  4. 04

    Installation

Your team fits the bathroom with dust sheets down, a clean-down at the end of every day and regular updates — typically two to three weeks on site.

  5. 05

    Final inspection

A thorough walk-through, snagging, aftercare advice and a written workmanship guarantee — and we're still contactable afterwards if you need us.

Our upstairs bathroom was an odd shape and we had no idea how to make it work. The designer came back with a layout we'd never have pictured ourselves, then the same team carried out the installation. Having one company handle both stages meant nothing got lost in translation, and the finished room matches the drawings exactly.

Nothing in our bathroom had been touched since we bought the house. The team moved the shower, fitted a double vanity and the room now feels twice the size it was. Tidy, punctual and the final invoice matched the quote exactly, which made a nice change.

We were wary of putting a wet room upstairs, but the tanking and drainage were explained properly before any work began. It's completely watertight, the tiling is spot on and the finished floor drains beautifully. Couldn't fault the attention to detail.

New ensuite off our loft bedroom. It's a small footprint, but the layout makes it feel far more generous than it should. Work finished a day ahead of schedule with just two minor snags, both sorted within the week.

A full master bathroom with a freestanding bath, walk-in shower and stone finishes throughout. The quality of the finishing is superb — mitred corners, dead-level floors, every silicone line dead straight. They were also honest about where to spend the budget and where it wasn't worth it, which we really valued.

A cramped bathroom that never really worked for our family. It's been redesigned around wall-hung fittings, a walk-in shower and a big mirror, and it feels like an entirely different room now. Over a decade doing this clearly shows — nothing seemed to faze them.
